South Florida Special Event Photography

Posted on March 18, 2019

As a South Florida special event photographer, I am aware that there are usually certain tips and a checklist that I follow when photographing an event or corporate function.

BELOW: Fine Cuisine is often a feature of high end corporate events. Often companies what to show their top people a really great time and fine food is a great way to achieve this. As a Miami corporate event photographer, photographing the display of fine cuisine shows where the company money was spent.
Incorporating the company name and logo into the ice display is a great way for a company to maximize company ad space.

BELOW: If you are going to celebrate your companies achievements then why not start by having a model hand your top sales staff or important clients a fresh glass of champagne.

When photographing a speaker, one must have a keen sense of timing in order to capture the speaker with a nice, flattering expression. The photographer needs to shoot enough shots throughout in order to achieve this. Many people are quite animated when they speak and are often unaware of either silly or strange facial expressions they might make, so taking enough photos during the speech is imperative to insure that enough decent expressions are captured. It is also great to be able to capture hand gestures when photographing speakers and presenters. This adds a nice animated touch to the photos and makes them look less stagnant.

ABOVE AND BELOW. These 2 photos were taken at a Charity Event in Boca Raton, Florida. Often charity events will include some sort of educational lecture. Your South Florida Corporate Event Photographer should make it a point to photograph the speaker and the chart. Placing the speaker in a location that doesn't interfere with the chart is important. Equally important is the photographers skill of using enough flash to light up the speaker yet still allow the chart to appear clearly.

An essential piece of equipment to use when photographing speakers is a long fast telephoto lens. It is necessary as it allows the photographer to be a distance away and still be able to achieve a close, well-composed shot.

BELOW:
Many Corporate events feature live entertainment. As you can see in this blog post, Special Events in South Florida feature all kinds of unique and interesting entertainment. Over the years I have photographed events that include Belly Dancers, Fire Eaters, Synchronized Swimmers and celebrity entertainment.

BELOW: I photographed these fire dancers at a corporate event in Orlando. During the outdoor cocktail hour the event guests were treated to this amazing display of dance and fire.

It is important to shoot some fun group photos without going overboard. The client will expect to see their attendees having a great time, socializing, exchanging ideas etc. The peoples’ faces should be visible in the photos, not mostly the backs of heads. One thing to be aware of is that after several days of photographing the same people at an event, it becomes evident that some people tire of having their picture constantly taken. At this point, the photographer must use some restraint when taking the photos and/or use a long telephoto lends to capture the attendees unposed from a distance. Once again, hand gestures and some action is good to try to capture in this situation.

BELOW: On the spot printing. Otherwise know at Step and Repeat photography, Photographing guests and having finished printed photos ready by the end of the event is very popular. For this corporate event not only did we shoot the portraits and print the photos, we also inserted the finished photos into custom frames.

Below: Corporate event decor: Photographing decor at a corporate event is also important. Many Miami Corporate events are all about business and having a good time. However, some events also include fancy upscale decor. In the event your Palm Beach or Miami event includes fancy decor it should be photographed.

Photographing all the signage at an event is also very important. Sponsors and companies pay big bucks to have their company’s information and ads posted around a trade show or convention. Often the company attendees don’t get to spend time looking and checking to see that their advertising dollars were put to good use. Having photos of sponsors’ advertising at a special event is very important, especially if the sponsor decides to look through the photos for proof of advertising after the fact. As a South Florida special event photographer, I am always very judicious about photographing not only all the signage at an event, but also the décor and overall look and ambiance that is present. The signage and décor are a huge expense and companies holding events like to have a record as to what everything looked like to assist in future event planning as well.

When hiring a photographer for a special event, trade show or corporate function, seek to find a photographer who has the ability to tell the story through pictures. Since photography itself has no sound, the photographer should be experienced in using a visual only medium to convey the story.

Erica & Noam’s Lavish Destination Wedding at the PGA National Resort & Spa

Posted on March 8, 2019

We were very excited when Stacey Feldman of Peacock Premier Events approached us about the possibility of shooting Erica and Noam’s wedding. Now that it’s over, I can say that it was truly a most lavish South Florida wedding! Living in New York City, Erica and Noam planned their wedding with the help of Erica’s mom and of course, Stacey of Peacock Premier Events. Stacey managed all the details and made sure that the day unfolded as smoothly as possible. The couple didn’t have to worry about a thing. Assembling some of the best vendors in South Florida, Stacey assisted with every detail along the way and made sure to keep everyone in check.

PHOTOGRAPHER NOTE BELOW: Erica's 2 piece bridal gown hanging on one of PGA's ultra modern lamp fixtures. I find that some bridal gowns are enhanced when the light passes through the gown. Also, since this lamp used tungsten light bulbs the lamp produced an attractive warm glow. The flat side of the lamp provided a spot which made reading Bride on the custom hanger easy.

BELOW: Everyone was in Love with Erica's Jimmy Choo shoes!

The PGA National Resort & Spa is one of the premiere places for events in the Palm Beach Gardens area of South Florida. Its lush landscape and variety of ballroom facilities make it a perfect place for a top notch South Florida wedding. Often associated with golf tournaments, The PGA National Resort & Spa is popular with locals alike who are looking for a high-end local venue to host their events.

A complete vendor list is below, but here are some highlights as to who helped make Erica and Noam’s wedding the incredible event it was.

Decorating the wedding to the hilt was the work of Dalsimer-Atlas. As always, they executed the perfect vision and insured that the wedding flowers were absolute perfection.

Both AA Musicians for the ceremony and cocktail music and Mike Sipe Entertainment for the reception provided music for the event. Rabbi Michael Resnick officiated for the couple. Jennifer Johnson of Johnson’s Cakes designed the magnificent wedding cake. Her cakes never cease to amaze me! Always beautiful and equally tasty!

BELOW: Nobody knows where the wedding planner "Stacey" found these amazing mirrored Mr and Mrs chairs. Since these this was a Jewish Wedding Stacey made sure the chairs had arm rests so that the bride and groom could hold on during the horah

As a South Florida wedding photographer, I have worked at a huge number of local venues and I can definitely say that in the Palm Beach Gardens area, PGA National Resort & Spa is one of the best destinations anyone can select for their affair. The staff is excellent, the food impeccable and the general facilities and ambiance second to none. South Florida is a very popular location for destination weddings – especially with people who live up north. Erica and Noam’s wedding was in December – a perfect time to escape the cold of New York City and get married down in South Florida! I am sure all their guests from up north enjoyed traveling to their wedding immensely! I was thrilled to be a part of Erica and Noam’s South Florida destination wedding and hope to be back at the PGA National Resort & Spa photographing another wedding soon!

Samantha & Arryn’s South Florida Destination Wedding at Boca Raton Resort

Posted on March 3, 2019

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Samantha and Arryn’s magnificent wedding at the Boca Raton Resort. This lovely couple met through JSwipe, a Jewish dating app! We have had lots of clients who have met online, but Samantha and Arryn are the first couple we have met who actually met through an app. Samantha explained that they went to a restaurant in NYC for their first date and they have been together almost every day ever since.

We have found that many clients who live in colder climates, select South Florida for their wedding as their guests have the opportunity to come down and get out of the cold and use the wedding as an excuse for a full vacation! What better place to do that than at Boca Raton Resort? With its amazing architecture and lush grounds, the Boca Raton Resort is the go to place in this part of South Florida. The resort also offer many options for events and weddings, as they have a variety of ballrooms and unique spaces to host all types and sizes of events. In addition, there is a beach club venue that is part of the resort and also a country club if that is more your style. Our bride and groom worked with Alison Preiss at the resort and she was extremely helpful to us in the days leading up to the wedding and throughout the event.

The Boca Raton Resort is in the heart of Boca Raton, an elegant and upscale city here in South Florida. Know for its fabulous beaches, high-end shopping and huge array of restaurants, Boca Raton is the perfect place to host a stylish and classy affair sure to impress all of your guests – whether they are local to South Florida or have traveled here just for the occasion.

Samantha and Arryn certainly did their research when hiring vendors. They were lucky enough to find Headliners, the band they hired. They were thrilled with their energy and the fact that they had everyone out on the dance floor all night. Samantha explained that her grandfather had been a member of the Boca Raton Resort when she was little. She was familiar with the venue and it was always her dream to get married there. It turned out that Alison at the resort already knew Arryn and offered to help them plan their wedding at the resort as well! As you can see, the choice to book their wedding at the Boca Raton Resort was a no brainer. As a South Florida wedding photographer, I always look forward to photographing weddings at this particular venue. There are so many amazing places to create incredible photos – you just need a cooperative bride and groom and it’s all there for you. Samantha and Arryn were great to work with and we definitely got some wonderful shots, as you will see here.

The bride and groom were familiar with Dalsimer Atlas, as Samantha’s mom knew their business from Long Island in NY. They had actually created the décor for Samantha’s brother’s Bar Mitzvah, so it was an easy decision to hire them for the wedding. They loved their responsiveness and ability to create a vision that was exactly what they had envisioned.

How they found us? Samantha and Arryn said that while they were touring venues, they noticed our photos on the walls of every place. They loved what they saw, so they contacted us. They figured that we were reliable and trustworthy since we were recommended by so many venues – including theirs! My team and myself were thrilled to be part of Samantha and Arryn’s perfect wedding day at the Boca Raton Resort. Many thanks to them for allowing us to capture all of the moments that truly made their day special.
