More New York City Engagement Shoots!!!

Posted on March 26, 2008

On March 2, I had the opportunity to photograph two of my upcoming wedding couples in New York City. We had a really great time! The first couple of the day was Rachel and Erin. We started our adventure in Soho at Dean & Deluca – a gourmet market on Broadway. Then we went down a few side streets in the neighborhood and took some shots there before taxiing down to the Brooklyn Bridge to finish up our shoot. Getting there was half the fun…the cab driver was very upset (in distinct New York fashion) as we took advantage of the opportunity to take some photos on top of his cab! The weather was sunny, but brisk and Rachel and Erin were great sports as we dealt with the chill and the wind on the bridge.

Next, I met up with Amy and Jon at Dewey’s Flatiron and then went a rooftop location in the area to get some really amazing shots with the New York skyline as the backdrop. The Empire State Building was prominent as the sun set over the city. After the rooftop, we headed to Times Square to capitalize on taking some pictures in front of one of the most famous nighttime light displays in the world! Amy and Jon were a lot of fun to work with and we spent a good amount of time making the most of our evening shoot.

Photography Competition Results

Posted on March 19, 2008

I’m in Las Vegas for the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) print competition and convention. I’m thrilled to announce that three of my images were selected as winners in the wedding photography category. This has been a busy week of seminars, workshops and networking with the best in the business. It’s truly an amazing opportunity to learn and share with some of the biggest names from around the world in the portrait and wedding photography industry. In addition to winning three honors in the photography competition, I also had a few of my images published in three new books on photography.

Joel’s first hockey game!

Posted on March 15, 2008

Last night we took Joel to see his first hockey game. He really loved it! He was also mesmerized by the cheerleaders. We took him to meet them during one of the breaks. There was a small bounce house for kids and of course, Joel wanted to play there as well. The game itself was very exciting, with both teams battling for the puck the entire evening. The final score was 3-2 with the Panthers edging out the Rangers to the local fans’ delight! Joel now wants to go to Madison Square Garden to see a game in New York City – one of his favorite places!

Sorry Canon, Just ordered my new Nikon!

Posted on March 12, 2008

Finally the game between Canon and Nikon has taken a new twist. 5 years ago my camera of choice was Nikon. At the time I felt that the Nikons focused faster and had the best image quality. However, over time I found myself wanting the faster, sharper Canon lenses. Finally, I decided to purchase some Canon gear. I started with the Canon Mark 2 and some new glass. When the Canon 5D came out I had to have one. Then I bought the Canon 70-200 2.8L image stabilizing lens.
(Which is actually my favorite lens.) That was followed by the 35mm1.4L Even though I made the jump to Canon I still use my old Nikon gear. I own the Nikon 10.5 wide-angle lens (Which I love.) and use once in a while, I would never replace it. I also own a Nikon D200, which I often use. However, over the past 2 years I found myself using Nikons less and less because when it comes to pure image quality Canon was the winner. UNTIL NOW! Nikon just released the new D3. This is by far the most exciting new camera ever made. As of today you can’t get one. Nikon only shipped a limited number. However, according to the reviews it beats Canon in every aspect imaginable.
Today I ordered mine.

Francesca’s “underwater” Bat Mitzvah at Temple Kol Tikvah

Posted on March 11, 2008

On February 23rd, I had a great time photographing Francesca’s underwater themed Bat Mitzvah. The entire event was held at Temple Kol Tikvah in Parkland. Francesca did a great job reading from the Torah on her special day. Check out the striking photos of her in beautiful Temple Kol Tikvah, with its magnificent circular ceiling! The celebration to follow was beautifully orchestrated by Sara Renee Events. The “under the sea” theme was creatively brought to life by the talent of the team at Xquisite Events. Temple Kol Tikvah was literally transformed into an underwater fantasy land with deep blue tablecloths, a seascape, sandcastles and sushi. I barely had time to come up for air!
